SEO Process

What is SEO?

What is SEO & why do I need it?

Many people ask "What is SEO and how does it affect my website?". The short answer is SEO stands for "Search Engine Optimisation" and describes the process undertaken on a website to obtain traffic (website visitors) from the free or organic search results on search engines. It doesn't matter what web search engine your customers choose to use (such as Google or Bing), they all provide a list of primary search results including websites, photos, videos etc that are relevant to the keywords that were searched for. This type of search results is classed as free or organic search results as there is no payment involved.

All business that have a web presence should include website SEO as part of their core internet marketing strategy. As a business, you will know what keywords your customers might use that are relevant to your business and part of the SEO strategy for your website will be to ensure that your website is not only content rich but also utilises relevant keywords throughout your site. This ensures that Google, and any other search engine, will know what services your business offers and will use those keywords along with other data relevant to their algorithm to rank your business within the search results.

It is best to think of a niche market that your business services and use those keywords to help drive traffic to your site. The more competition their is for a keyword, the harder it is to rank highly (especially to reach page 1 on google) for that keyword. For example, if someone searches for an "Electrician" Google will say that there are roughly 69,300,000 results for that keyword. Whereas if you search for "Kingaroy Electrician" that number is drastically reduced to only 22,500 results.
